Simply searching the interwebs for "human trafficking" or "modern slavery" will quickly show you that slavery is not a historical phenomenon we learned about in school. It's a disgusting modern disease perpetuated by the greed of some, the indifference of many, and the ignorance of everyone else.
If you've read my books, then you know that I wish all people were free. Not just from physical bondage, but also from hunger, hatred, fear, and despair. For the past few years, I've tried to make that wish come true by supporting ministries like World Vision.

I like World Vision because their work is effective and far-reaching, but it's just one of many ministries dedicated to helping people be free. I invite you to find a cause that really helps people in need and that you believe in.
And you don't have to write books to support them. Whether you're a student in school holding a bake sale to raise money for clean water wells in the desert, a retiree sponsoring a child to receive food, medicine, and school supplies in a country you've never heard of, or a professional who wants to ensure that all the children in your neighborhood have warm coats for the winter, no one is not qualified and no effort is too small to help.
Humans are eternal creatures having temporary physical experiences. And everyday is another chance for you and me to choose how we will affect those pieces of forever around us. Let's make the most of our chance today.
